They do these who knows how many times a year.. and every time we are poised with the same question (as titled above). I know for many of you Stake Conference is a no brainer- you go. But I did not grow up as such (although my mom TOTALLY denies it). There's just something about the idea of 2 hours of hallway torture with the 1 year old. So here we are at the cross roads yet again- any suggestions?

I can totally understand not wanting to go, just to wander the halls the 2 hours. We take lots of treats, lots of books, and even toys and still end up in a room with a group of other moms as we all share our toys, books and definitely our treats!
Send your husband. :)
I also ask this question everytime, as our building is 45min away, and yet we always go! Char can enjoy a two hour buffet of crackers!!!
I grew up without it too. I've only done it with a kid once & she was still in the sleep-all-the-time stage, so I probably shouldn't be giving advice, but I say you probably ought to go just so that you don't have to deny not going like your mom (or get totally embarrassed into going again, like my parents when I was in Primary & the Primary President asked what we do for Stake Conference & I said, "Stay home!").
I think you should go. Those meetings I hear some of the best council. Maybe you could both take notes, as much as you can with a one year old, and go over them when you get home. Or maybe pick the key points you hear, while dealing with a one year old and go home and study it out later.
I will support your claim Kels, and I'm willing to be the devil's advocate and say...Don't go. If one of you wants to go then great. I think that there is a time and season for everything, and in the grand scheme of things missing stake conference (I believe it's twice a year) until Charlotte is 2 or 3 probably won't make you go inactive. Have your own little FHE tonight instead.
Jacob is big on the GO team. I'm big on the stay home team. What usually happens - Jacob dresses us, makes us go, and then gets called in to the hospital and I am left to fend for myself in a Relief Society room somewhere with three LOUD kids and a bunch of people straining to listen to conference on a t.v.
What did you end up doing?
(miss you)
Well - it's too late to actually give advise - but I would like to say for the record that we took all four kids (Adam being #4) with quiet books (homemade) and treats and not real high expectations. Adam may or may not remember (he doesn't remember his birthday parties, either) but I wanted to go because that is where I wanted to be. Now when I go I love to watch the little kids around me and remember when it was us . . . the years pass way too quickly.
